Leadership Courses


Spring/Summer 2012

Leadership Courses for Grades 6, 7 and 8 students

(completed the grade as of June 2012)

Intermediate Arts Leadership

(Sunday, May 27th to Saturday, June 2nd)

This course emphasizes leadership through the arts - dance, drama, music and visual arts. (for Grade 7 or 8 students)

Grade 6 Leadership     

(Sunday, June 10th to Thursday, June 14th)

This course will develop leadership in students who have been formally or informally identified as gifted. (available for Grade 6 students only)

Intermediate Athletics Leadership    

(Sunday, July 15th to Saturday, July 21st)
(Saturday, July 28th to Friday, August 3rd)
(Saturday, August 11th to Friday, August 17th)

In this program, students are provided with leadership development opportunities with a focus on athletics leadership. (for Grades 7 and 8 students)

Summer Intermediate Arts Leadership

(Friday, August 17th to Thursday, August 23rd)

This course emphasizes leadership through the arts - dance, drama, music, visual arts and creative writing. (for Grades 7 and 8 students)

Intermediate School Leadership

(Sunday, August 5th to Friday, August 10th)

This course offers leadership development for students with a more general interest in school initiatives eg. student government, school environment/community, clubs/groups/teams, advocacy, etc. Students will develop skills related to organizing events, facilitating meetings, working with peers and teachers, advocating for school reform within their own context, and generally contributing to positive school life. (for Grades 7 and 8 students)

French Sports

(Sunday, July 22nd to Saturday, July 28th)

This course offers leadership development through athletics but is offered in French. This is intended for either students with French as a first language or French immersion students. (for Grades 7 or 8 students).



Leadership Courses for Secondary School Students

(completed the grade as of June 2012)

All Secondary courses are open for Grades 9 - 12.


Exceptional May Leadership

(Saturday, May 12th to Wednesday, May 16th)

This is a leadership development course with modified program expectations for exceptional students who have access to special education and services.

Secondary Music Leadership

(Sunday, June 24th to Saturday, June 30th)

Secondary students are given the opportunity to develop skills and experience leadership activities through the medium of music.

Secondary Athletics Leadership

(Sunday, July 1st to Saturday, July 7th)
(Sunday, July 8th to Saturday, July 14th)

This course provides secondary students with leadership skill development through their involvement in athletics.

Secondary Arts Leadership

(Thursday, August 23rd to Wednesday, August 29th)

This summer program focuses on leadership in the arts and includes four main arts disciplines - vocal music, visual arts, dance and drama. Besides students from Grades 9, 10 and 11 we welcome back students who participated in the Elementary Fine Arts program in previous years.

Secondary School Leadership

(Wednesday, October 10th to Friday, October 12th)

This course has a unique format where students will attend with a teacher advisor. The focus will be school-based leadership development and increased student voice and engagement in student government, clubs/groups/teams, school community, advocacy, etc. Each school group will return with both individual and collective action plans.
Please Note: This course is for students in Grades 10 - 12.
