Exceptional May Leadership

(Leadership development for exceptional students)

This course is a generic approach to student leadership, examining why it is necessary to stay in school, involvement in co-curricular activities, public speaking, communication and listening skills, time and stress management, group dynamics, anti-racism and conflict resolution.

Students should be selected to meet the following criteria:
   • a full-time exceptional student
   • identified in need of special education and services
   • 14 to 17 years of age
   • a willingness to attend our course for the duration
   • has not attended this specific course in the past.

  Note: Program fee offsets program costs. Both fees include GST.

Registration Process

Applications for our leadership courses are received on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited for some of the programs, so to ensure a spot we suggest applying as soon as you are able.

Although students may attend more than one OELC course, it can not be the same course twice.

In all cases, students must be endorsed by their school to participate. Your application will not be considered complete until we receive by mail:

  1. a signed consent form by a parent/guardian, teacher and principal
  2. a completed Medical Form signed by a parent or guardian
  3. payment by cheque, payable to OELC
