Intermediate School Leadership
Our Intermediate Leadership Course at OELC is one of our relatively new courses and has been developed in response to an increased awareness of the potential of youth engagement as having a positive impact on school, local and global communities. At the heart of youth engagement is ‘voice’, empowering youth to share their concerns and ideas, get involved and become active citizens. This course is unique in its specific focus on developing leadership skills and ‘youth voice’ through a focus on individual leaders’ interests, needs and school/community context. In self-selected workshops, leaders will have opportunities to share ideas, opinions and interests with others. They will explore ways to make a difference and identify possible youth-led projects that address the unique needs of their schools and communities. Having their voices heard, leaders will leave with increased confidence, skills and ideas they would like to put into action in their schools and communities.
Students must be in Grades 7 or 8 in 2011-2012
